Jeff Francouer's consecutive game streak ended tonight in the second game of the Braves doubleheader against the Mets tonight in Atlanta. Francouer had played in 370 consecutive games, but manager Bobby Cox held the slumping Francouer out of the lineup to give him a rest.

The new challenger to Cal Ripken? It's Delmon Young of the Twins. He's played in 210 straight games including tonight.

Did Sizemore's streak get broken up earlier this year?

Yes, Sizemore suffered an ankle injury that caused him to miss a game.

When was the last time the longest active streak was as little as 210 games?

Just browsing a list of the top 15 streaks, the last time the active leader was this low would have had to be between 1970-77, 1999-2001, or sometime before 1951.

The top 4 streaks all ended this year:
Juan Pierre
Grady Sizemore
Jeff Francoeur
Ryan Zimmerman, who never even got to get into first place

Delmon Young's major league leading 210 consecutive games total is the lowest total since Hall of Famer Mike Schmidt took over the lead in consecutive games played from Eddie Brinkman on August 10, 1974. At that time, Brinkman's streak ended after 434 games. Schmidt took over with just 141 consecutive games played. Schmidt's streak started on September 1, 1973 and ended when he missed a game against the Giants in Philly on May 27, 1975. His games played total was 231 games. The source is from my book Iron Men of Baseball, 1876-2005 (published by McFarland).
